There are several ways to go about approaching a woman, and plenty of women available to approach. However, the thing that stops most men is the question “What do I say?” If you approach a woman and just say “Hi…” you can feel pretty foolish as you have nothing else to stay and are just staring blankly into her eyes. The reasons for using the opinion opener are easy to understand. Women are naturally very talkative and opinionated, so asking their opinion will open most of them up. Beyond just saying “Hi,” the opinion opener has wrapped into it a conversational topic that can go on for quite a few minutes, of the women are passionate about it.
Here’s an example of something you might say to a group of three girls in a bar:
“Hey guys, I need a female opinion on something. I only have a minute. Do you think if a guy invites a girl to a ball, he should pay for her ticket?” Usually, they’ll say yes.
Go on with “Well get this, my friend invited this girl he knows to a Halloween party and she wants him to pay both her ticket AND her sister’s, and even to reimburse her for what she’s wearing. Is that fair?”
Immediately, the women will respond with “No way! Tell him to drop the witch!” This will spring open more topics such as Halloween, relationships, etc. You now have enough rapport with them to talk about other things as well. Get off opening topic soon and go on to something else, or the energy will start to really stagnate.

“My cousin is starting a punk rock band and he needs a name for it. What do you think is a better name, The Low Snakes or PowerBuzz?”
“My coworker Jenny has been talking to this guy online for like 4 months, they were sweet talking a lot, and were going to meet, but she just saw a recent photo of him and he’s pretty fugly. Should she cancel on him?”
Begin each opinion opener with a “Hey guys, I need a quick opinion” and include a false time constraint. If you make it clear you’re not going to stay there forever, women will feel more comfortable because they know by talking to you, they’re not committing to you hitting on them all night.
The opinion opener is best for men just beginning to open women in bars and clubs. Even if your delivery and body language are off, the women will usually answer and talk to you. It can take some time to get used to a new opener, but keep at it, and watch your success go up.
